RFTA’S HIGHLY DISCOUNTED SPRING/SUMMER/FALL SEASON ZONE PASSES

Due to the seasonal demands within our regional transit service area, RFTA offers a highly discounted pass option for businesses and individuals. There are 2 seasons: Winter (December 1st thru April 30th) and Spring/Summer/Fall (May 1st thru November 30th). Season Zone Passes are sold for each season and entitles the owner of the pass to unlimited rides between Aspen and the specified zone. A Season Zone Pass is not available for the Silt and Rifle zones. Each pass is made specifically for each individual. View RFTA bus fares.

The 2025 Spring/Summer/Fall Season Zone Passes are valid from May 1, 2025 to November 30, 2025 and are now available on the RFTA Mobile Tickets app. Individuals can purchase season zone passes directly within the app.

How to board the bus with a Mobile Zone Pass:

  1. When ready to board the bus, activate the Zone Pass within the RFTA Tickets app.
  2. Scan the activated pass on the ticket validation machines aboard our buses. When the light turns green on the validator, you’re ready to go!

The Spring/Summer/Fall Season Zone pass will be live within the app for entirety of the season and will expire on November 30, 2025.

HOW TO BULK ORDER SEASON ZONE PASSES

RFTA has transitioned our Season Zone passes to our new RFTA Mobile Tickets app. The bulk order process is largely the same, but we now require an email address and a RFTA Mobile Tickets account of the employee who is receiving the zone pass.

Follow these steps:

  1. Have your employee(s) download the RFTA Mobile Tickets app from the App Store® or on Google Play to their smartphone. Once downloaded, instruct them to create an account with their email address.
  2. Gather all the email addresses of your employees who have created accounts and are to receive a Season Zone pass – we no longer require first names, last names, or pictures for these mobile zone passes.
  3. Fill out the new Season Zone Pass order form
  4. Send your completed order form to passorders@rfta.com
  5. Payment is due upon receipt of invoice.

No mobile app pass will be activated until payment is received.

Once your invoice is paid in full, your employees Season Zone Pass will appear in their RFTA Mobile Tickets app Ticket Wallet with the account that is associated with their email address you provided.

Orders for the next month will be placed in the last week of every month. Passes for the current month cannot be uploaded during the last week of the month.

Heads Up: Zero Fare October & November + Reduced Spring/Summer/Fall Season Zone Pass Prices

RFTA Zero Fare in October and November
RFTA will offer Zero Fare for all passengers during October and November 2025. That means free rides on all RFTA regional routes (excluding Maroon Bells), no tickets, passes, or payments required during those two months.

Reduced Season Zone Pass Prices
Because of the upcoming zero fare months, we’ve lowered the cost of our Spring/Summer/Fall Season Zone Passes. Prices above have been adjusted to reflect the zero fare months of October and November.

Credits
Customers who purchased a Spring/Summer/Fall Season Zone Pass in April or May 2025 will receive a credit toward their 2025–2026 Winter Season Zone Pass. Starting June 1, the Season Zone Passes are now available at reduced rates, and these passes will not be eligible for a future credit.

Passes Purchased by Employers
Employers who have already purchased full 7-month Season Zone Passes for their employees will receive a credit on their November 2025 invoice for use toward 2025/2026 Winter Season Zone Pass purchases.

  • The credit amount varies by zone and whether the employer is a Chamber member.
  • For example, a Chamber member who purchased 10 zone passes at the full summer rate of $518 each will receive a credit of $148 per pass, totaling $1,480, which will be applied automatically to their winter invoice.
  • No credit will be issued for pass purchases made at the reduced rate moving forward.

Passes Purchased in the RFTA Tickets App
The reduced prices will not be reflected in the RFTA Tickets App until July 1, 2025. If you purchase a pass at the higher price before that date, you may be eligible for a partial refund of the price difference.

If you purchased a seasonal pass but have not yet activated or used it within the RFTA Tickets App, we may be able to issue a partial refund or credit for the price difference. If the pass has already been used, refunds may take a few business days to process through our ticketing system.

30-Day Zone Pass Refunds or Credits
Riders who purchase or obtain a 30-Day Zone Pass before or during the zero fare period (October–November) will not be eligible for a refund if the pass is unactivated—it can still be used after fares resume on December 1, 2025. However, if the pass is activated after September 15, riders may request a credit by contacting RFTA Pass Orders at passorders@rfta.com.
