Winter Weather Riding
Colorado weather can be unpredictable. Here are some ways to be prepared for traveling during adverse weather and staying up to date on any delays, detours, and cancellations.
1. Know Before You Go
- Subscribe to RFTA BusTracker by email or text to get the latest service alerts:
BusTracker | Create Account (myrfta.com)
- Track your bus in real time and see when it will arrive at your stop: BusTracker | Real-Time Map (myrfta.com)
- Check for up-to-date stop times via text: BusTracker | Track By Text (myrfta.com)
2. Plan for Extra Time
It is recommended to arrive at your bus stop at least 5 minutes early. And if possible, take an earlier scheduled bus so that if there are delays you will have time to make it to your destination.
3. Stay Connected
Ensure all mobile devices are fully charged in order to stay connected and receive updates on the go.
4. Dress for the Weather
Delays, detours and cancellations are possible during inclement weather so make sure you are prepared by being dressed appropriately for the weather conditions. Wear proper footwear and be mindful of slippery surfaces such as bus platforms, stairs and sidewalks.
5. Our buses tend to acquire full capacity quicker on winter days.
You can view how crowded your bus is with the RFTA Bus Tracker capacity feature that shows if your bus is “not crowded”, “somewhat crowded” or “crowded”. Please be patient and considerate of other passengers and bus drivers during crowded and challenging conditions.
