RFTA Recognized as Climate Champion by Federal Transit Administration

We are thrilled to announce that Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) has been honored by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for its outstanding efforts in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change.

As part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s celebration of Earth Day, the FTA recognized transit agencies that are taking innovative approaches to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. These transit agencies participate in FTA’s Sustainable Transit for a Healthy Planet Climate Challenge, which encourages transit leaders to take bold actions and prioritize investments to help tackle the climate crisis.

As part of the challenge, RFTA has been recognized for its innovative approach and commitment to sustainability. Through extensive stakeholder engagement and comprehensive analysis, RFTA is paving the way for a greener future. RFTA’s dedication to reducing its environmental footprint is evident in its strategic planning and ambitious goals.

Created in June 2021 to help advance President Biden’s GHG reduction goals, FTA’s Climate Challenge calls on transit agencies to develop strategies to reduce emissions, such as converting fleets to electric buses, making facilities more energy efficient, and generating power through renewable energy sources.

We extend our gratitude to the FTA for their support and guidance in advancing our sustainability goals. Together, we can create a more resilient and sustainable future for all.
