What should it be like to get around the Roaring Fork and Colorado River valleys 20 years from now?
RFTA wants the community to help answer that question as we develop a Master Plan, a long-term roadmap for the future of transit and mobility in our region. RFTA is currently in Phase 1: Discover, focused on understanding what works well today, where people face challenges, what service may be missing and what could make getting around easier in the future.
This fall, we have already talked with hundreds of people at pop-up events from Aspen to Rifle. Those conversations have brought thoughtful feedback about bus service, challenges getting where people need to go, and questions and ideas about the Rio Grande Corridor.
Nearly 500 responses have also been recorded on our interactive survey map. The map lets community members drop a pin on stops they use frequently, places where they wish a stop existed, or locations they would use if RFTA service worked better for them.
Now, we are bringing those early conversations together for a deeper discussion.
RFTA Master Plan Open House
Thursday, November 5, 2026 – 6 to 8 p.m.
Glenwood Springs Library, 2nd Floor
The Open House will be a drop-in event, but it will go further than our community pop-ups. Members of the Master Plan consultant team will be there to share some of what we have heard so far, discuss early survey findings and talk one-on-one with community members.
Informational boards will highlight what we have learned during Phase 1, and attendees will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions, share ideas and have more conversations about the future of transit, trails and mobility.
You do not need to be a regular bus rider to participate. We want to hear from daily riders, people who never ride, Rio Grande Trail users, seasonal workers, visitors and everyone in between.
Now is the time to get involved. Your experiences and ideas will help shape the questions RFTA explores next and, ultimately, the priorities that guide our region for decades to come.
