RFTA is developing a long-range Master Plan to identify how the agency can best serve the region over the coming decades.
The RFTA Master Plan will serve as a roadmap for the future. It will look at where RFTA is today, identify challenges and opportunities ahead, and help establish priorities for future improvements and investments.
The planning process will examine public transit and trail services, facilities, technology, customer experience, workforce needs and capital investments. Ultimately, the Master Plan will help guide future projects and funding decisions while creating a shared vision for RFTA’s future.
Community input will help shape the RFTA Master Plan
Community feedback is an important part of the planning process.
RFTA wants to hear from people throughout the region, including daily riders, occasional riders and people who do not currently use RFTA transit. Input from residents, visitors, businesses, local governments and community organizations will help RFTA better understand future transportation needs.
The conversation also extends beyond bus service. RFTA owns and maintains much of the Rio Grande Trail and rail corridor, and the Master Plan will consider the future of transit, trails and the corridor together.

The RFTA Master Plan community survey is open through November 13, 2026.
The survey is an opportunity to share your experiences, priorities and ideas for the future of transportation and trails in the region.

Meet us in the community
RFTA will also host pop-up engagement opportunities at community events and locations throughout the region through October.
These events are a chance to learn more about the Master Plan, talk with the project team and share feedback in person.
RFTA will use community input alongside data about current services, ridership, travel patterns and future trends to develop recommendations and strategies for the final Master Plan.
