RFTA Launches the Flyer (FL): New Fare-Free Bus Route Starts June 28

Riders boarding the RFTA FL Flyer bus at the Brush Creek Park & RideRFTA is introducing a new pilot transit option in the upper Roaring Fork Valley. It’s fare-free and made possible through Colorado’s SB 230 transit funding program, which supports new and expanded transit services and improved regional mobility, combined with RFTA resources.

The Flyer (FL) is a year-round, daily bus route launching June 28, 2026, operating during peak morning and evening commute hours. It connects Brush Creek Park & Ride to key stops along Maroon Creek and Castle Creek, including Aspen Airport, Buttermilk, Aspen Schools, Aspen Recreation Center, Highlands Village, Maroon Bells Shuttles, and Aspen Valley Health.

Whether you’re commuting to work, heading to school, or exploring the valley, the Flyer offers a convenient, cost-free alternative to driving and paying for parking. For down-valley commuters, it provides more direct connections to key up-valley destinations without having to travel into Aspen, with free parking available at Brush Creek Park & Ride.

The Flyer is a pilot service running through 2027, designed to test demand, evaluate travel patterns, and inform future service decisions in the region. Rider usage and feedback will help shape how this service evolves over time.

The summer schedule for the route will be published on June 1. View the service map on The Flyer route page.
