Youth ages 6-18 now ride RFTA for only $1
Starting September 6, 2021, RFTA will reduce the Youth Fare from $1 dollar off the full cash fare, to a flat $1 per ride on all RFTA regional commuter buses for Youth ages 6 through 18!
Purchase RFTA Stored Value Cards to provide easier boarding and to receive even more of a discount on the $1 fare. With a discounted Stored Value Card, the cost would be approximately $0.75 per ride for youths ages 6 – 18 on RFTA’s regional commuter bus system. Children ages five and younger will still ride fare free.
RFTA has enacted this new fare to provide more affordable youth fares, improve mobility options for a large groups of travelers, including families, and to promote the use of public transit. With this change, RFTA will eliminate all current monthly youth pass programs.
The Youth Fare will allow riders of ages 6 through 18 to ride on any regional route for just $1, this includes VelociRFTA BRT, Roaring Fork Valley Local and Hogback. The Carbondale Circulator, Woody Creek Shuttle and all Aspen-Snowmass routes remain FREE to all.
Teaching kids how to ride the bus and encouraging them to ride gives them a greater sense of freedom, not to mention the use of public transportation versus private vehicles is a key component to cutting down on carbon emissions in our region. Let’s get our Valley’s Youth riding the bus!
COVID RESTRICTIONS STILL IN PLACE:
- COVER YOUR FACE: You MUST still wear a mask, or other face covering at all times on all RFTA buses. Children 2 years of age or younger are not required to wear a mask.
- KEEP YOUR SPACE: Please practice social distancing while at RFTA bus stops, stations and on buses. Bus capacities are currently at 100% seated capacity. If a bus is at capacity, RFTA will do its best to get another bus en route as soon as possible.
- DO NOT RIDE IF YOU’RE SICK: For the safety of other passengers and your bus driver, please DO NOT USE RFTA SERVICES if you’re experiencing respiratory illness (fever, cough, and shortness of breath).
