Ride RFTA and Save!

Think there is not much cost difference between driving your car and riding the bus? Think again! This calculator will help you compare the price of using RFTA with the price of paying at the pump and then parking your car in town.

To the right is some approximate distance information to help you figure out your commute distance. Just below it is a fare chart assist you in figuring out the cost to ride RFTA. Remember mass transit is free within the City of Glenwood Springs, the City of Aspen, with the Town of Snowmass Village and in between Aspen and Snowmass Village. Also remember that RFTA's Park and Rides do not charge a fee to park.

In these times of belt tightening transit is a smart way to go, not just for your wallet but also for the environment. At the bottom of the right hand column is a link to see how riding the bus also helps our environment.

Please note this calculator is a gas only comparison. The IRS, AAA and others take into account other actual costs of owning a vehicle like insurance, regular maintenance, depreciation, etc. See column to the right for more information. Important intangibles need to be considered also, such as loss of time driving (our bus only lanes make us more than competitive with the car going to Aspen in rush hour) and also the cost another car creates in terms of carbon emissions and its effect on our community.
